Glendower shelties has evolved, over the years, from our original background in obedience to now include herding, conformation and agility.
Over twenty years ago I bought Pooh Bear, a small female cocker spaniel. She was black and tan and quite spunky, but soft in temperament. Pooh Bear was a wonderful dog who not only taught me about dog training, she also led me to pet therapy work and shelties.
Because of Pooh Bear I went to a dog match and met Rusty Cromer, MaryLee Jones and Debbie Hull. When I saw the shelties herding, I knew that was the dog for me. Shortly after that I purchased my first sheltie from Merry Lea's Shelties (Mary Lee Jones), his name was W.O. Bentley H.C, CDX "Bentley". The rest is history.
My love of this breed goes very deep. As with many people, when we find ourselves in the scariest or most trying times of our life my beautiful loving shelties are there for me.
My husband Ed and I were married in 2003 and now he is just as crazy as I am. I mean crazy about the dogs.
We don't breed very often, but when we do, we put a lot into the puppies' daily training and activities. These activites include: pet therapy at nursing homes or assisted living facilities, visits from some younger children to play with the puppies, and we start the puppies on various tiny teeters that my dear friend Barb Westerman's "Wayne" builds.
We now reside in Scottsville, VA, but we continue to have close connections with our sheltie friends in Pittsburgh, PA, my home town.
